Abstract: Jharkhand, the 28th State of the Indian Union is best known for its rich mineral resources. However, 78% of the total population of 2.69 crore live in rural areas, largely dependent only on agriculture and allied activities. The average annual growth rate (AAGR) for the last three years (2016-17 to 2018-19) has been 8.2 per cent. Last year it grew at the rate of 6.7 per cent and in the current financial year, it is estimated to grow at the rate of 6.8 per cent. The state has made a commendable progress so far as other indicators of development are also concerned.
