The rapid digitization of communication and transactions has necessitated the inclusion of electronic evidence in judicial proceedings. In India, the judiciary has played a pivotal role in interpreting and shaping the legal framework governing the admissibility of electronic evidence. This paper examines the evolution of judicial precedents, the impact of landmark judgments, and the transition from the Indian Evidence Act, 1872, to the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), 2023. It also analyzes the challenges in authentication, reliability, and procedural compliance, highlighting how judicial interventions have refined the standards for electronic evidence in Indian courts.
