This study examines the impact of socio-economic challenges on the welfare of unorganized workers in a food industry in Chennai. It explores key factors such as low wages, job insecurity, inadequate legal protections, and their influence on employee well-being, workplace safety, and job stability. This study aims to understand how these challenges affect workers' quality of life and identify measures that can enhance their overall welfare. In this study, primary data was collected through a survey of 146 respondents using a convenience sampling, while secondary data was gathered from research papers, articles, and scholarly books. The results highlight the significant impact of socio-economic barriers on workers, including financial instability, emotional distress, and lack of workplace security. Key insights emphasize the role of financial and non-financial rewards in reducing turnover and improving job satisfaction. Ultimately, this study provides valuable recommendations for improving wages, legal protections, and workplace conditions to support the welfare of unorganized workers.
