Agricultural Indigenous Knowledge, Shifting Cultivation, Ritual, Kuki.
The Kukis social, economic, and religious lives revolved around agriculture. Throughout their history, agriculture has been a part of Kuki civilisation. It is their main source of economic sustainability. The principle of cultivating forest areas has been passed down through the generations. It forms the bases of life in the Kuki society and there is a closed connection between agriculture and culture. The purpose of this article is to investigate the importance of Agricultural Indigenous Knowledge (AIK) as well as the critical role of agricultural systems in the Kukis socio-economic life.
