This study explores the relationship between performance appraisal systems and employee motivation within the Information Technology (IT) industry in Coimbatore. As the IT sector continues to experience rapid growth and evolving demands, the need for effective human resource management practices has become increasingly significant. Performance appraisals, when implemented strategically, can serve as powerful tools to enhance employee engagement, productivity, and satisfaction. This research investigates how different appraisal methods—such as objective-based assessments, 360-degree feedback, and continuous performance evaluations—affect employee motivation levels. Through a combination of surveys and interviews conducted with IT professionals and HR managers in Coimbatore-based companies, the study aims to identify key factors that contribute to or hinder the effectiveness of performance appraisal systems. The findings will offer valuable insights for IT firms to refine their appraisal practices and create a more motivated and performance-driven workforce.
