Abstract
In the development of novel therapeutic strategies, immunoglobulin Y (IgY) derived from chicken eggs has gained significant attention due to its unique properties and potential applications in various fields. This study aims to investigate the antimicrobial properties of different IgY types against fungal and bacterial pathogens. In this study, we have isolated and characterized IgY from various types of chicken egg, including Normal, Organic and Nutraceutical eggs. The IgYs were tested against a range of fungal and bacterial species, including Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus, Rhizopus sps., Candida albicans, Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli. The results demonstrate that IgYs from different sources exhibit distinct antimicrobial properties, with some showing significant activity against multiple species.
This study contributes to the understanding of the antimicrobial properties of IgYs and their potential applications in common human diseases involving infections. This study highlights the importance of exploring the diversity of IgYs from different chicken egg sources, leading to the discovery of novel therapeutic agents. The high protein nutraceutical eggs were found to show highest antimicrobial activity, and serve as promising candidates for novel therapeutics. The aim of this study is to provide new insights into the antimicrobial properties of IgYs and to develop the use of IgY for potential therapeutics. The findings have significant implications for the development of novel therapeutic strategies and highlight the potential of IgYs as a promising alternative to traditional antibiotics.
