Economic inequality in India is a big and complex topic that has received broad domestic and international attention. Over the last few decades, the country's economic progress has reduced poverty and increased overall prosperity, but it has also exacerbated income and wealth inequality. Economic inequality is the unequal allocation of wealth, income, or resources within a society or economy among individuals or groups. It is a measure of how a population's economic well-being is spread. There are huge discrepancies in income and wealth across different groups of the population in nations with high economic inequality.
