Strata control in underground mining is critical to ensuring the stability and safety of mine workings, impacting both operational efficiency and the well-being of personnel. This paper provides a comprehensive technical approach to strata control, focusing on innovative methodologies and technologies employed to manage ground stability in underground mines. It reviews the latest advances in monitoring and prediction techniques, including real-time ground movement sensors, geotechnical modelling. In view of the significant level of accidents due to roof and side falls in mines a Case study of Saoner Mine No.1, Nagpur Area of Western Coalfields Limited illustrate the practical applications and effectiveness of these approaches. By analyzing current practices and proposing new solutions, this study aims to enhance understanding of strata control mechanisms and contribute to the development of safer and more efficient underground mining operations.
