Abstract

ABSTRACT The present study was aimed to evaluate the effect of educational intervention programme on feeding practices and caregiver stress among mothers of children with chronic neurological impairment. The objectives of the study were to evaluate the effect of educational intervention programme on feeding practices and caregiver stress of mothers of children with chronic neurological impairment, find the relation between the feeding practices and caregiver stress among mothers of children with chronic neurological impairment, find the association between feeding practices with selected variables among mothers of children with chronic neurological impairment, find the association between caregiver stress with selected variables of mothers of children with chronic neurological impairment. Theoretical framework of the study was based on Roy’s adaptation model. Pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test design was selected for the study. The study was conducted among mothers of children with chronic neurological impairment attending Regional Early Intervention Centre and Pediatric medicine ward, Govt. Medical College, Thrissur. Fifty mothers were selected for the study by consecutive sampling. The data were collected by using socio personal data sheet, rating scale to assess feeding practices and rating scale to assess caregiver stress. The results showed that there is significant improvement in feeding practices score and reduction in caregiver stress score after providing educational intervention programme. Hence it is concluded that educational intervention programme was effective in improving the feeding practices score and reducing the caregiver stress score among mothers of children with chronic neurological impairment.
