Abstract
The study aimed to investigate the relationship between sports stressors and academic performance among student-athletes in Colleges of Education in Ghana. Sports stressors such as training demands, competition pressure, coaches pressure injury and illness, camping, long journey travelling, were examined in relation to academic performance. Data was collected from 768 student athletes, using questionnaire and end of semester academic records. Results indicated that sports stressors had a significant negative impact on academic performance, with higher levels of stressors associated with lower academic performance. These findings suggest the importance of providing support and resources to help student-athletes manage their sports stressors in order to improve their academic success. Further study is needed to explore specific interventions that may help student-athletes balance their sports and academic responsibilities
