Diversity and Mathematical Assessment of Gastropod Molluscs along the Coastal Habitats of India
This study investigates the diversity of gastropod molluscs in selected muddy and sandy habitats along the Indian coastline during October 2022 to September 2023. A total of five Orders, five Families, eleven Genera, and eleven Species were identified. Diversity indices, including the Shannon—Wiener index and Evenness, were applied to quantify community structure. Results indicate moderate species diversity with high Evenness (0.9680), reflecting uniform distribution. The ecolog- ical and socioeconomic roles of edible bivalves were also noted, emphasizing their significance for coastal communities.
