Lip prints, are unique patterns formed by the grooves on the lips, making them valuable for forensic identification. These prints can be influenced by lip cosmetics such as lipsticks, lip balms and glosses, which affect their visibility at crime scenes. The forensic significance of lip prints lies in their ability to serve as transfer evidence, aiding in criminal investigations. Analytical techniques include visual inspection, photography, and digital imaging. Understanding the relationship between lip cosmetics and lip print formation enhances the reliability of this forensic tool, contributing to effective identification in legal contexts. Lip prints, which are unique to each individual, can serve as critical forensic evidence, with modern techniques such as LIBS, assisting in the analysis of lipstick traces and the detection of toxic elements. Despite their benefits, lip cosmetics pose health risks due to toxic substances such as lead and cadmium, necessitating stricter regulations and increased consumer awareness. This study emphasizes the dual importance of lip cosmetics in cosmetics and in forensic science.
