Drug targeting and delivery research may find success using polymeric micelles. More stable than surfactant micelles, polymeric micelles are nanoscale colloid particles whose inner cores are capable of solubilizing significant amounts of hydrophobic compounds. They are formed from amphiphilic block co-polymers. The fundamentals of polymeric micelles, including their size, shape, chemistry, general characteristics, structure analysis, and method of micelle creation, have all been covered in this article. Additionally, emphasized were the various polymeric micelle kinds. In particular, we have highlighted here the latest developments in the application of polymeric micelles, such as their use as a nanocarrier for the treatment of cancer, Covid-19, and oral, cutaneous, and polynucleotide administration, among other applications. Pharmacological delivery systems primarily attempt to control the rate of medication release based on the physiological state of the patient, the course of the disease, or the patient's circadian rhythms. The development of novel medication delivery methods aimed at fulfilling specific patient needs has resulted in the provision of a drug release profile. Many studies aimed at targeting and delivering hydrophobic medicinal molecules have been conducted in an effort to develop drug delivery carriers. Polymeric micelles, a drug delivery vehicle with great stability and protective qualities against the hostile gastrointestinal environment, are the subject of this review.
