Abstract

This study aimed to screening bacteria, fungi, and plants from petroleum-contaminated soil for their ability to produce bio emulsifiers. The readymade cultures of 4 bacteria, 3 fungi and 3 plants were used. The isolates were used for screening of microbes producing bio emulsifier using the drop collapse and emulsification index methods. Out of the 10 isolates, all were found to produce bio emulsifiers. These included four bacteria, three fungi, and three plants. The bacteria that produced bio emulsifiers were identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli. The fungi were identified as Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger , and Candida albicans. The plant that produced a bio emulsifier was identified as Neem, Nagveli and Spirulina. The outcomes demonstrated the strong emulsification activity of the bio emulsifiers. They were appropriate for use in the bioremediation of soil tainted with petroleum. This study identified bacteria, fungi, and plants from petroleum-contaminated soil that can produce bio emulsifiers. The bio emulsifiers produced by these isolates have potential for use in bioremediation of petroleum-contaminated soil. Further studies are needed to evaluate the effectiveness of these bio emulsifiers in field-scale applications. To produce diesel, which is a widely utilized fuel for transportation and industrial applications, hydrocarbons from crude oil must be extracted. Solvent extraction is a typical process in the extraction process. The diesel fuel is then hydro treated, which improves fuel quality and lowers emissions by removing impurities and Sulphur compounds. Overall, the process of separating diesel from crude oil is one that requires several processes, each of which is essential to the creation of a high-quality fuel.
