Abstract

This paper studies performance of a bidirectional on-board single phase electric vehicle charger for Grid to Vehicle (G2V) and Vehicle to Grid (V2G) application. A bidirectional charger is made up of semiconductor based buck converter and a boost converter. For charging the vehicle battery a dc to dc converter work on buck mode where as boost mode is used for discharging the battery i.e power feedback to the grid, here the converter works on inversion mode. The charging and discharging of battery depend on state of charge. The MATLAB simulation is performed to investigate capability of a bidirectional onboard charger with buck boost converter.
